Nanomaterials

Nanomaterials in elastomer formulations are used to strengthen the characteristics of rubbers and polymers and to give them new properties.


Elastopole’s third area of focus concerns nanomaterials :

  • New nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, graphene, montmorillonite clay, nanowhiskers, etc.)
  • New generation of carbon blacks produced from recycling
  • The integration of nano-loads to :
    • strengthen the characteristics of rubbers, plastics and composites : mechanics, abrasion, resistance to temperatures and extreme environments, etc.
    • give elastomers and polymers new qualities or properties related to electrical or thermal conductivity, or impermeability.
    • develop polymers including electronic or "intelligent" components, enabling exchanges of information on the life and use of products.
    • create materials useful for the development of flexible electronic products,
    • facilitate the production and maintenance of rubber and polymer products, etc.


The nanomaterials used are locked into elastomers and this prevents them from leaching out and so also prevents any risk of exposure.
