Bonding to substrates

The bonding of the elastomer to a core (metal, plastic, composite, textile) and the adhesion of the different layers of polymer, absolutely imperative.

Elastopole’s fifth area of focus concerns the links and interfaces between the polymer and its substrate.

  • Multi-layer materials.
  • Adhesion, bonding elastomers (rubber, silicone, TPE, etc.) to different types of substrate (metal, plastic, composites or even textiles).
  • Preparation and treatment of the surface of the insert (plasma, etc.).
  • Choice and behaviour of adhesion agents, distribution and cross-linking mechanisms.
  • Strength over time and the life span of the bonding.
  • Making the surface of the polymer functional.
